Remember, Creative writing is due at the end of week 5 - in three weeks. You need to use a character who is an unreliable narrator and you need to use a distinctive, unusual or interesting voice for this character.
The story doesn't need to be a sustained narrative - in other words it doesn't need to have a beginning, a middle and an end - but it does need to showcase your character. Obviously you will need to be writing in the first person. You can be just writing a single scene. It needs to be at least 500 words and I'd prefer a maximum of 2000. You can write more if you need/want to - but try and keep yourself within the limits as it is good practice for exams and so on.
For your statement of intention - I would like you to write a draft before you really get into your story, you can then edit this for a final copy depending on how your story actually develops.
Your intention will be to tell a story using an unrealiable narrator with a focus on voice and of course point of view. In your statement you will need to explain how you intend achieveing this. This means you should explain your choice of setting (time and place), any ideas or themes you are using and then the language choices you make to express all of this. I want you to focus on lanuage choices - how will you give your character this distinctive voice and in what way will they be unreliable and how will we as readers see this.
Your statement of intention needs to be about 300 words.
Post draft statement of intention to your blog and then have a read of other peoples and comment on them to help each other. I'd like to see statement of intention from everyone by the end of week 3 - that's this week.
